The “Williamson” 2012 comes from the Laphroaig Distillery, of course. The nose first fills with obvious influences from the sea. Salty sea air followed by sweet peat smoke immediately reflect the Islay influences, after which more medicinal influences follow. The mouthfeel is wonderfully covering, but nice and soft with cream first and then smoked ham, candied almonds and dark herbs. On the back of the tongue, the medicinal influences take over and give the whiskey wonderful depth and warmth, after which the finish is long and satisfying.
