Nose: nice and fruity, with some pineapple cubes and lemon candy. Oranges too, perhaps a little mango. Also a slight bubblegummy touch. Something of an apricot muesli bar. Bright and simple. Mouth: same feeling. It boasts the qualities of a fruity spirit in a good bourbon casks. Sweet citrus and still some tropical touches, like pineapple and guava juice. Also some freshly sawn oak and creamy vanilla. Marzipan cake with frosting. Finish: medium long, similar fruits now joined by some ginger, cinnamon and fresh oak.
An utterly fruity Inchmurrin. When I tried a series of Loch Lomond spirits a while ago, Inchmurrin was already my favourite, and this is a particularly bright example. Well chosen.
Words Of Whisky:
Color Old gold
Nose
Vibrant and fresh with a big hit of candied lemons, but also lemon peel and pink grapefruit. It's safe to say this is quite fruity. It settles down after a little while, making way for more subtle aromas, such as nectarines, orange juice and finally some crème brûlée.
Taste
You thought the nose was fruity? Think again, because the palate might just trump it. An attack of pink grapefruit and lemon, with a hint of pineapple and cotton candy, as well as some bitter oak. It has an enjoyable spicy edge (white pepper, ginger).
Finish
Grassy, subtle spices. Lingers on fruit. Medium.
Comments
This ex-bourbon cask is just a tad too bitter to reach the 90 point barrier, but displays an incredible fruitiness that's hard to find elsewhere.
