Funnily enough, I have not tasted this particular vintage of Clos Saint Jacques from Rousseau since it was first released. In the interim, it has aged with style and is, in fact, not that far removed from the 2001 Chambertin. It unfurls in the glass with strawberry, redcurrant, minerals and delicate touches of dried rose petal, never achieving the intensity of a very top vintage, but so understated and feminine. The palate is very silky on the entry. This Clos Saint Jacques is marked by the fineness of its tannins and its harmony rather than volume, with just a hint of cured Italian meat toward the tender finish. Superb.
