Robert Parker (90)

The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru la Garenne has a reserved, limestone and lime flower-scented bouquet, just a touch of stone fruit in the background. The palate has a slight bitterness on the entry, then it settles down and offers crisp kiwi fruit, gooseberry and Granny Smith notes towards the linear finish. Give this a year in bottle for it to open up.

Cask sample. Bought in early 2013 from his aunt. 75-year-old vines.
Very straight and fine. With an undertow of green veg. A relatively early maturing wine that delivers pure Puligny with a bit of body. Savoury. Picked last.

Vinous (93)

(Colin has two one-year-old 400-liter barrels of this juice, from 85-year-old vines): Pale yellow-green. Fresh white peach and noble herbs on the nose. A sweet bomb of peach, nectarine and citrus fruits in the mouth, nicely shaped by harmonious acidity. Real old-vines intensity here. This is riper than Colin's normal preference but he noted that he picked these vines at the end because he needed more ripeness to obtain enough flavor complexity. Finishes brisk and very long. From a crop level of 36 hectoliters per hectare.

Burghound (91)

A deft touch of wood sets off perfumed and wonderful aromas of white flower, pear and soft apple. The rich and generous yet attractively precise flavors possess a palpable sense of energy on the driving and mineral-infused finish. This is really quite pretty if not nearly as complex as the Caillerets.
