The 2021 Latour à Pomerol delivers a strong showing in bottle, unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of minty dark berries, licorice, violets and pencil shavings, followed by a medium-bodied, fleshy and suave palate with good depth at the core, lively acids and powdery tannins that have integrated well with élevage.
Plum stones, walnuts, orange rind and dried flowers on the nose. Some mocha and nutmeg. It’s medium- to full-bodied, polished and fragrant, with layers of spiced fruit framed by tight, very fine tannins. Long and evolving.
Dark ruby, with purple hues on the broad rim. Fine cassis fruit, black forest berries, blackberry compote, a touch of herbal savouriness and tobacco in the background. Tightly woven, taut, mineral, red berry fruit, fine, supporting tannins, mineral; still somewhat underdeveloped, will benefit from time in bottle.
Aromatic strawberry and cherry aromas lead to a wine with ripe black tannins and dense texture. Tannins are underneath, giving it structure and concentration.
