This one should be brighter. Colour: gold.

Nose: as expected, this one's brighter, and much more mineral. You're nosing wet rocks, limestone, crushed chalk, concrete, tarmac, then rather lemons and grapefruits, shoe polish, hay... So this is very typically 'clean' Springbank, but clean Springbank can be quite dirty. Oh well, I know what I'm trying to say. With water: exceptional. Old engine oil, rusty tools, brake fluid, metal polish, and assorted mushrooms. Shi-take!

Mouth (neat): just superb. Very oily, mentholy, camphory, peppery, lemony, earthy, chalky, waxy, peely, sappy... Simply one of the very best distillates on this little planet. With water: splendid! More chalky and lemony waxes and oils, tar candies and liqueurs, polishes...

Finish: long, grassier. Cactus, celeriac, chalk, lemon, balms...

Comments: this one's just as very exciting as other clean ones from similar vintages. A style that's very hard to beat if you ask me.

:

Color Deep copper

Nose
Lovely stuff! The sherry influence is subtle and very well-integrated. Plum juice, raspberries and sweet oranges. It has a lovely minerality to it, as well as a slight sootiness, a whisper of polished leather and soft notes of cigar tobacco. Finally some brown sugar, icing and after a little while even a hint of soy. Top notch...

Taste
Oh yes! Is this really almost 60 percent? Lovely, juicy fruits. Apricot jam, strawberries, and oranges. Somewhat waxy, a touch of brine and gentle notes of peat. Also some furniture polish, as well as menthol and a touch of licorice. Very classy.

Finish
Basically all of the above, with the fruits lingering. Medium in length.

Comments
Geez, this is better than I could've hoped for. Whatever these guys bottle, I think it is now safe to say I can buy it blind. Even if it is Loch Dhu.

Whiskynotes.be:

Nose: starts on the typical gristy Campbeltown profile, with a little petrol and some candle wax. This moves towards almond paste after a while, leather and hints of silver polish. Chalk. Rapeseed oil, tobacco, mint. Slowly it becomes sweeter, with some oranges and apple peelings, maybe even lychee. Big presence and complexity so far.

Mouth: intense, showing a perfect balance of coastalness, oily notes and fruits. In no particular order: paraffin, brine, grapes, peppery oak, smoke and resinous notes. Dusty grains. Waxed furniture. Oranges and apples again. Juicy mirabelles too. Camphor. Liquorice.
Finish: long, warming finish, on earthy notes, apple peelings and pepper.

I can only recommend to keep your eyes open to news from these guys.
