The opaque purple-colored 2006 Malleolus de Sancho Martin is sourced from the 1.72 acre Pago de Sancho Martin vineyard planted in 1964. Malolactic fermentation occurred in new barrels with batonnage after which it spent 22 months in new French oak. It provides a brooding aromatic array of roasted herbs, scorched earth, toasty new oak, incense, and blackberry. Immense, muscular, and dense, this powerful effort demands 10-12 years of cellaring after which it will provide optimum drinking from 2020 to 2035. Those in need of immediate gratification should look elsewhere.
All of the Bodegas Emilio Moro wines are 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo).
Powerful and distinctive, this massive red builds a brick wall of tannins that shelters deep, complex cassis, cranberry, salted dark chocolate and sanguine flavors. Despite its concentration, this remains focused and expressive.
