The Enrico Serafino 2016 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is made with the Picotener subvariety of the Nebbiolo grape. The wine opens to a medium dark color with general aromas of dark fruit, prune, spice, iron ore and tilled earth. The aromas are broad in scope and never really offer the detail that you get in some of the other gorgeous wines made in this classic 2016 vintage. The tannins are present but tame, especially considering the wine's place of origin, Serralunga d'Alba, known for some of the most structured wines in the appellation. A mere 1,400 bottles were made.
Rose petals, dried strawberries and spice with some cedar and hazelnuts. Smoky, too. It’s full-bodied with hazelnuts, spice, dried mushrooms and chocolate. Linear and racy. Compact and fine. Extremely well done
