The 2013 Griottes Chambertin Grand Cru has a fragrant and cassis-tinged, comparatively floral bouquet that stays true to the terroir. The palate is medium-bodied with black cherries laced with hints of star anis and menthol, but very subtle mind you. It gently builds and then fans out on the finish that leaves you wanting to take another swig.
This is aromatically quite similar to the Latricieres if perhaps the wet stone component is a bit less prominent and this is also true for the equally pure, cool and restrained flavors that possess a really lovely sense of underlying tension, all wrapped in a firm, classy and gorgeously long finish. This is terrific though once again, it's pointless to buy this if you're not prepared to cellar it at least 8 to 10 years.
