The Richebourg, which was absolutely profound and one of the three or four greatest wines of the 1987 vintage, seems less concentrated, but is still full of black fruits, spicy oak, and a touch of minerals and flowers. It is more forward than the 1987, yet also seems to have more tannin in the finish. This seems contradictory, but it does not appear to have the exceptional harmony the 1987 possessed.
A sensational wine, with a magnificent interplay of plum, currant, nutmeg and vanilla flavors, a supple texture and vibrant acidity. It's long and almost sweet on the finish and beautifully balanced, echoing all the flavors for many minutes. Can only bec 125 cases made.
