The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d’Orveaux comes across as quite lush and powerful. This is one of the few 2009s here that speaks more to the year than it does to the vineyard. Readers who appreciate the ripe, seductive side of Burgundy will love the Combe d’Orveaux.

A very subtle touch of wood combines with extremely ripe aromas of mocha, blue berry liqueur and cassis while preceding the rich and relatively full-bodied flavors yet this essentially remains a wine of finesse as the lacy and mineral-driven finish is finely detailed. In sum, this is a wine that delivers a certain volume yet is really quite fine.
