The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a very opulent bouquet, quite rich compared to others that I tasted, a touch of fresh dates and fig giving away the warmth of the growing season. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry with fleshy ripe black fruit, salted licorice developing on the second half that feels powerful and long. It will need several years to gain composure but it has the substance to suggest long-term ageing.

Decidedly ripe yet much fresher aromas combine to present notes of cassis, plum and spiced Asian-style tea. The suave, velvety and plump yet muscular flavors possess better punch along with plenty of sappy dry extract that does a fine job of buffering the moderately firm tannic spine on the dusty and impressively persistent finish. This is well-structured but not hard or particularly austere and like the Clos de Vougeot I would anticipate that it could be approached after 6 to 8 years of bottle age.
