The 2014 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru, four barrels this year compared to just two barrels in 2012, has a mineral-led bouquet that is very well defined, stylistically between the Charmes- and Latricières Chambertin. The palate is medium-bodied with (again) very fine tannins. I adore the symmetry here, the elegance and razor-sharp precision threaded all the way through to the finish. Pierre Duroché opined that this is his best cuvée in 2014, better than in 2012 and 2013, and he might well be right.
