Colour: Shiny spring barley gold

Flavour profile: Young & spritely

Considering the provenance, this struck our noses as a gentle, attractive and well-mannered dram – lemon bonbons, golden syrup, rhubarb rock, stewed apples and vanilla custard – fresh, fruity and floral – an evocation of Spring. The palate was a lively, intense, ‘tap-dancing on the tongue’ experience, tart apple skins, orange zest, light spices and salt balanced by butterscotch, caramel and peanut brittle sweetness. On the reduced nose, the freshness was now floral perfumes and pebble beaches, with soft toffee, orange oil and cough mixture. The palate now found and displayed its natural barley sweetness, improving the balanced and making it moreishly drinkable.
