Only recently bottled as single vineyard (thanks to deep pockets of LVMH?). Tinta de Toro aged 50+ years, at 700 m. RS 2 g/l. 100% new French oak (bordeaux barrels).
Very deep colour. Still has the Tempranillo sweetness of fruit but less sweet than the Flor de Silos Garnacha 2005. More earthy. Perhaps even riper though – slightly raisined character. More leather. Thicker and richer and not as precise. More velvety but thick tannins. More burly. Lots of spice and polished but pushed a little too far. Maybe it will become more elegant with age.
Dark and opaque, with compact aromas of rubbery blackberry and controlled oak. Feels flush and grabby, with staunch tannins and creamy, toasty flavors accenting core blackberry and cassis. This seems more barrel-influenced the longer it airs out.
