Notes of citrus zest, white flowers and hazelnuts introduce the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gain, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and pure wine that's long and penetrating, with an elegant profile and a mouthwatering finish that defy this site's sometimes chunky disposition.
The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru has a very delineated, very pure bouquet with lemon ring, orange blossom, and light white peachy scents that develop in the glass, though I find other cuvées exuding more mineralité. The palate is well-balanced with a svelte opening, wild peach and light nectarine notes leading to a poised, tender finish. Maybe one of Moreau's more approachable 2022s? Superb.
A cooler and more elegant nose freely offers up spicy aromas of essence of pear, white flower and discreet citrus zest nuances. Once again there is a caressing quality to the decidedly punchy and beautifully textured flavors that display slightly more austerity on the balanced, clean and dry finale. This is noticeably more tightly wound and a wine that's going to require at least moderate cellaring first. Lovely.
Pale lemon yellow, slightly floral nose, and a suggestion of flesh to follow. The palate offers a good balance between orchard fruit and a mineral thread, as much personality as Maltroie, certainly in youth. Impeccable poise and persistence.
