Words of Whisky (87)

The nose excited me a lot. While the palate couldn't quite follow in its footsteps, overall that leads to a really good rating.
Nose
This is fruity, savoury and with a nice smoked paprika edge. Tinges of barbecued meat with raspberry and blackberry confit. There's a new-rubber-soles smell, as well as embers and wood smoke, but it's all very much in check and balanced with the fruitier notes.
Taste
Nice interplay between soft campfire smoke and sweet fruits with spicy, cracked black peppercorns. Some medium rubber notes as well, and a whiff of smoked bacon.
Finish
The finish isn't very long at all, especially not for a peated whisky. Spicy and tapering off into soft vegetal notes.

The comforting warmth of a British fruit pudding, with cedar wood and the nostalgic embrace of a well-loved cigar box. Oak tannins mingle with earthy truffles, unveiling an intricate dance of smoked jam tarts. A dash of water brings forth a bold explosion of bitter cherries, tingling with spice, before settling into the gentle, floral caress of a violet-laden bouquet.

PALATE
A sumptuous, velvety texture carries you through a labyrinth of flavours. Anise and soot intertwine with the luscious sweetness of summer fruits—ripe cherries, strawberries, apricots, and pears—all harmoniously balanced. Then, the indulgent richness of shortbread, dark chocolate, coffee, and almonds emerges, completing this captivating journey.

FINISH
An enduring finale, smoky and sooty, lingering like a hauntingly beautiful echo in the night.
