Robert Parker (93)

The Ahrweiler 2019 Silberberg Spätburgunder GG opens intense yet refined and toastier than the Sonnenberg, revealing After Eight (mint and dark chocolate) notes on the elegant and intense nose. Full-bodied, intense, yet also pure, refined and refreshing on the palate, this is a straight, vital and tightly structured Pinot with good energy and aging potential. Another excellent Pinot from the Näkel sisters that possibly needs more time to develop than the Sonnenberg, which is always an early charmer.

James Suckling (94)

Lovely, fragrant black and sour-cherry nose with some floral notes. Excellent structure and integration of fruit and oak are married to serious concentration. Long, structured and mineral finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2022.

Jancis Robinson (18.50)

Werner Näkel first experimented with barriques over 30 years ago. The subtle toasted notes of the Silberberg lay testament to the fact that his daughters have managed to perfect this art. Whereas at this early stage nuances of roasted hazelnuts and cigar box may demand most of the sensory attention, delicate mineral components and dark juicy berry fruit indicate that there is more to come on the palate.

Message from Weingut Meyer-Näkel regarding these bottles.

Wines from the flood

The bottles in this box fell victim to the flooding of the Ahr on 14-15 July 2021.

All the buildings of our winery were severely damaged by the flood and buried under masses of mud. Through painstaking work, we were able to salvage and clean some of our wines.
The bottles with cork closures were recapped for quality reasons. This was not possible for the bottles with screw caps, which is why sand may have settled on the thread in some cases, although this has no effect on the enjoyment or quality of the wine. Externally, the bottles are heavily marked by misfortune and some of the labels are difficult to read.

We have very carefully packed only intact bottles. Nevertheless, please bear with us if one or two bottles are damaged and subsequently show quality defects.

Best regards

Meike and Dörte Näkel
and the whole team of the Meyer-Näkel winery
