A varietal Petit Verdot from 2009 goes under the name Toknar, a wine from a stony vineyard on a slope that matured in French barriques for two years. The variety needs heat and it certainly found it in the zone, and more in a vintage like 2009. The wine is born with killer tannins and needs a long time in barrel to get polished. It's not an easy grape to produce a varietal wine, very powerful with abundant dusty tannins and rusticity; it is in need of food, because if at age six it's still this tannic, I'm not sure the bottle is going to polish it further without the fruit receding and the tannins remaining. 4,926 bottles produced.
