OV/SL 2013 Futo
The 2013 Proprietary Red OVSL (77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc) is a small cuvée of 535 cases, and like its bigger brethren, bottled unfined and unfiltered. This is the strongest of the three vintages in that it is a richer, more concentrated wine. I would think it’s hard to cull out such high-quality juice from the other lots, but Futo did it. Silky tannins, stunning blueberry and blackberry fruit with a hint of burning embers are all present in this multidimensional, complex, fleshy and succulent style of wine. Drink it over the next 20+ years.
JS: This is a wine with wonderful tannin outline that gives it precision and refinement. Full body, very polished and brilliant. Fine grain texture. Very pretty and classic in every sense of the word. Needs at least three or four years to come together. But already wonderful. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot, and cabernet franc.
